New Restaurants

Altro Zafferano
The new Zafferano is a transformed space and menu helmed by Executive Chef Andrea De Paola. Altro Zafferano focuses on contemporary Southern Italian cuisine where there are multiple seating options ranging from cosy booth seats to large round tables in the main dining area. Other than an a la carte menu, there is also the Experience Menu (S$148++ per person) where you get to curate your 4-course dishes form the a la carte menu. Lunch set include a 3-course weekday set lunch (S$78++ per person); and at the alfresco Terrace Lounge, light snacks (from S$10++) are offered. The pastas are amazingly good. [Read more here…]

Wagatomo 
Located in Guoco Tower in Tanjong Pagar, Wagatomo is a new Japanese restaurant by Chef Tomoyuki Kiga, previously from Akira Back. The space of Wagatomo is casual yet chic, centred around an open kitchen where dishes are cooked using an open grill fired by binchotan charcoal and oak wood. The dishes here are modern Japanese creations which pair well with their extensive list of beverages such as sakes, umeshu and Japanese craft beer. The A5 Wagyu Pizza is not to be missed. Sonder 
Tucked away in the industrial district of Henderson, Sonder is quite a hidden restaurant which is a two-in-one bakery bistro by day and omakase restaurant of Euro-Asian flavours by night. This is Chef Joe’s first independent outpost, branching out from his celebrity chef parents Sam and Forest Leong. Expect a journey of haute cuisine underlined by Euro-Asian flavours with melding elements of Thai, Chinese and local touches, a nod to Chef Joe’s own half-Thai-half-Chinese cultural background. In the day, Sonder serves up freshly baked breads, viennoiserie and sweet treats as well as an ala carte or set lunch options from S$30++. Gusta Sourdough Pizza Co. 
Located in Serangoon, Gusta Sourdough Pizza Co. is an intimate little pizzeria in Serangoon located a stone’s throw away from the NEX mall. The concept is by self-taught chef-owner Sean Lai, where there are more than ten pizza flavours where each pizza is made using traditional Italian methods and slow-fermented for 48 hours. There are classic flavours such as Magherita and Hawaiian, and also specials such as Mala Chicken and Singapore Chili Crab. [Read more here…]

Meow Barbecue
The popular Meow Barbecue opened at Bugis+ recently, an award-winning Chinese BBQ restaurant which just opened its first overseas outpost in Singapore. Prices are relatively wallet-friendly at Meow Barbecue and there are a couple of Meow Signature meats which we will recommend to order if it is your first time here. Our favourite is the Meow Signature Spicy Beef (S$23.80), with a slight hint of spiciness where the grain-fed 129-day old sliced beef is marinated with pickled chillies. En Yakiniku
Located in Bugis area along Middle Road, En Yakiniku is a two months old Japanese Yakiniku restaurant and sake bar by the same team behind the adjacent En Sushi. The space of En Yakiniku restaurant is decked in neon lights with a relatively dark theme and high ceiling, which makes it quite spacious visually. The meats at En Yakiniku are mainly from Japan and the US, where the price range is quite wide too depending on which cut you go for. There is also a wide selection of side dishes and appetisers to go along with the sake bar concept. [Read more here…]

Autumn Gastronomy At Restaurant JAG
The One-Michelin Star restaurant in Duxton introduced a new Autumn Menu recently, where the contemporary French fine-dining restaurant curate its menu based on seasonal vegetables. Expect a vegetable-centric menu which highlights the season’s most exquisite greens, including wild foraged herbs from the Alps of Savoie in France and complemented with choice proteins. Some highlights from the new seasonal menu include the likes of Kohlrabi with Melisse and Seabream and Caviar; Mushroom with Orti and Foie Gras; Chestnut with Frene and Uni.

Hairy Crab Season Is Back At Min Jiang 
There are two set menus at Min Jiang that features a selection of hairy crab dishes such as Steamed ‘Xiao Long Bao’ with Hairy Crabmeat; Steamed Hairy Crab; Braised Hairy crabmeat and Roe with Crystal Noodle; and Steamed Hairy Crab with Glutinous Rice served in Bamboo Basketcomplete with dishes that complement the hairy crab. This is available at both Min Jiang and Min Jiang Dempsey where you can choose from à la carte options as well as the curated set menus. The steamed version is also available for delivery and takeaway. Available from 10 October to 30 November 2022.

Savour Hairy Crab From Taihu Lake At Shang Palace  
Available for lunch and dinner, you can opt for a six-course set menu or select from a choice of à la carte dishes to savour the hairy crabs at Shang Palace this season. Highlights include the Steamed Hairy Crab complemented by a cup of ginger tea; Braised Imperial Bird’s Nest with Hairy Crab Roe crowned with a luscious hairy crab roe; Sautéed Lobster with Hairy Crab Roe and Braised Inaniwa Noodles with Hairy Crab Roe and Hairy Crab Oil. Available from 17 October to 30 November 2022.

New Lunch Omakase At Shinsora From S$90++
Nestled within Odeon Towers is Shinsora, a one-year-old Japanese Omakase restaurant which introduced a lunch serving just last month. It is a cosy 10-seater restaurant which can be accessed via Standing Sushi Bar, and is helmed by Chef Sky Tai, the World Sushi Cup Champion 2018. The newly launched lunch Omakase menu comes in 9-piece menu (S$90++) and a 15-piece menu (S$200++), where Chef Sky can adjust the pace of the meal since weekday lunch hour can be a rushed affair for office folks. [Read more here…]

New Seasonal Menu Nagatsuki At Kappo Shunsui 
Kappo Shunsui is one of the most theatrical omakase dining experiences we have had. For its new Autumn menu, expect seasonal produce and flavours such as the Delaware Grapes from Yamanashi served with either Grilled Amadai from Nagasaki with Shiro Miso or Ise Ebi (Spiny Lobster) from Mie, Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Sirloin Sukiyaki served with Bochan Kabocha pumpkin, Oshokuji of Autumn flavours – Chestnuts, Shimeji Mushroom, Red Bean and Sweet Potato, Mizugashi of Muscat Daifuku as well as a handcrafted dessert of White Sesame Ice Cream, Ichijiku figs from Aichi, Miyazaki Mango & White Wine Jelly lined with Kyoto Grapes from Nagano. [Read more here…]

Luce By Davide Giacomelli Launches New Italian Bistronomic Champagne Brunch Buffet
Luce by Davide Giacomelli at InterContinental Singapore just launched an Italian Bistronomic Champagne Brunch with free-flow Seafood and Sashimi on Ice, live stations and live music every Sunday from 12pm to 3pm. Expect Cold Starters, Hot specialities, Pinsas, desserts and live stations such as roasting chestnuts over flaming firewood and freshly made pasta delicately twirled inside a cheese wheel with the Mafaldine Cacio e Pepe in Parmesan Cheese Wheel. Limited Time ‘Around the World’ Afternoon Tea At Anti:dote 
Available till 30 November, you get a taste of flavours of the world through this afternoon tea where you can expect the likes of Singaporean-inspired chilli crab bun; Korean-inspired beef short rib patty marinated in bulgogi sauce bun; Italian-inspired Parmigiana; and more. All afternoon tea sets come with freshly baked Madagascar Vanilla Scones served with lemon butter curd, strawberry marmalade and Devonshire cream. The ‘Around the World’ Afternoon Tea is priced at S$58++ per person; S$70++ per person with the choice of one Amuse Bouche; or $75 per person with both Amuse Bouche. Choose between two Amuse Bouche: A personal Paella pan with prawns, calamari, and saffron or Steamed Soup Dumpling with minced pork and shiitake mushroom broth. Two-hour free-flow champagne is available for $75 per person. The ‘Around the World’ Afternoon Tea is available daily from 12pm to 2pm and 3pm to 5pm.
