New Restaurants
Ikkagoyo
Ikkagoyo is the latest kaiseki concept in Singapore which opened along Amoy Street, helmed by Chef Mitsutaka Sakamoto from Hyogo, Japan. Chef Sakamoto has more than 20 years of Japanese culinary experience under his belt at various ryokan and Japanese restaurants in Aichi, Kyoto and Tokyo. The beautiful and zen looking restaurant focuses just on a Keiseki-style Prix Fixe Menu (S$338++ per person) for dinner for now, where you can expect about 12 courses. Seasonal ingredients are used, which means that the dishes do alternate and vary. [Read more here…]

Eden Restaurant
Located in Pullman Singapore Orchard, Eden Restaurant is a gorgeous and hidden restaurant tucked away from street level. As the main restaurant of the new Accor property at level four, I love the interior of Eden Restaurant which boasts a lush glasshouse interior along with plenty of natural light in the day. The cuisine at Eden is modern Asian where you can expect highlights like Satay Lamb Rack, Steamed Atlantic Cod Fillet, Lime Ribeye Steak, Tuna Ceviche with Ikura, Thai Papaya Salad and others. A contemporary South-East Asian restaurant by new F&B group The Fillmore Collective amidst the Vietnamese restaurants in this part of buzzing Joo Chiat, the interior of 808 Eating House is casual and cosy with a seating capacity of 29 pax. Helming the kitchen is Singaporean Chef Eugene Chee, a CIA graduate who has honed his skills working at Michelin-starred Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, as well as local names the likes of Cloudstreet, Cheek by Jowl and most recently, at Magic Square. Charr’d Steakhouse
Located along Changi Road near Kembangan, this is Singapore’s first halal restaurant which serves A5 Kuroge Wagyu beef from the Mie Prefecture. The casual steakhouse is run by the same team behind Tomahawk King which is a few doors down, and it spots a simple black ceiling interior along with dark wood furniture and neon lights. Kuroge beef is one of the famous tyoes of wagyu beef and is produced from Japan’s Mie Prefecture, similar to Matsusaka beef. The menu here at Charr’d mainly features beef, along with starters and desserts as well as sharing platters. [Read more here…]

Chef Keisuke Uno, Executive Chef of Mikuni at Fairmont Singapore presents a brand-new à la carte menu. Aptly named Genten (原点), which is Japanese for origin, some of the highlights for me from the new menu include Mikuni’s Signature Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Snow Crab and Scallop; Japanese Tender Abalone from the Teppanyaki kitchen where the Hokkaido abalone is steamed whole in a bath of premium Japanese Akumochizake sake and then finished on the Teppan and served with an abalone liver sauce; and definitely the Shabu Shabu Hot Pot as well which features A5 Ohmi Sirloin and vegetables served alongside an individual hot pot of house-made premium bonito dashi. Once cooked, the beef and vegetables are to be dipped in a delicious house-made sesame sauce made with high-quality Japanese sesame over a 10-day process. [Read more here…]

New Spring Menu At Akanoya Robatayaki
Located in Orchard Rendezvous Hotel, Akanoya Robatayaki specialises in Robatayaki-style cuisine where the restaurant went through a revamp last year. There is an open-concept counter seating arrangement where diners could catch the kitchen action, a bar section for casual drinks, and also regular tables if you are in small groups or prefer dining privacy. Other than a la carte dishes on its menu, there is also omakase option where I had their newly launched Spring Omakase Menu (S$228++) for dinner where you can expect dishes like skewers and A5 Omi Gyu Short Ribs.
