Snippets: Antoinette introduces Chilli Crab Croisant | The better sequel to Salted Egg Croissant? [Closed]

What’s new: Following the debut of the Salted Egg Croissant at Antoinette, Chef Pang has launched two brand new croissant flavours today – Chill Crab Croissant ($7.50) and Scallion Arlette ($3.50).

The croissants: We love the Chill Crab Croissant, which is made from real crab fillings with a hint of spiciness which we thought was just right. The spiciness of the chilli crab filling should not be too overpowering or else it would risk masking the flavor of the croissant. In this aspect, Chef Pang has balanced it very well. As for the croissant, it was as flaky and crispy as before.

The Scallion Arlette is another brilliant creation this season. Imagine having our all-too-familiar ‘Cong You Bing’ in a French pastry, you get the idea. This marriage of oriental snack and French pastry was almost seamless, as the scallion flavor was unmistakable. The amazing part factor is that it didn’t taste greasy at all, unlike the ‘Cong You Bing’ street snack we had before. This is a guiltless version, we hope?

The new launches will be available at the Penhas outlet from today onwards, and the other branches (Mandarin Gallery and Sofitel So Singapore) from next Monday (15th Mar) onwards.

And to add on to the mystery and croissant scene, Antoinette will be looking to further launch a sweet flavor this April. [Hint: It will be either chocolate or caramel flavor, so stay tune for the latest updates.]

The verdict: Once again, Anotinette has up the ante in the croissant war with two new exemplary creations. We daresay both are must try items if you have always been a fan of Antoinette croissants.
